Updated Wed. activities

All:

I was with Bryce and the older boys tonight, and he did an excellent job of including the boys while planning out the next quarter for the two Wed. a month he will help the young men execute activities (Bryce, when you type that up can you get Cam and me a copy so we can integrate it into the calendar).

Gary, Cam, and Matt, could you put your heads together and look at the requirements the younger boys need to progress to their next rank and put together a similar schedule for the next quarter for Scouts? Cam and I can then get that plugged in to our general calendar.

Remember that we have cleaning at 8:30 at the church this Sat. Cory and Matt, could you get your Quorum Presidents to reach out to their quorum members and remind them of this, as well as prepping Sacrament/setting up chairs at 8:40 on Sunday morning? I will do this for the Priests as well.

Also, remember next Wednesday is the stake fireside next Wed. (29th) at 7:00 p.m. Sunday dress.

Thanks everyone! Appreciate all you do!

YM meeting for parents and boys

Bishopric:

As a YM Presidency, we discussed having a fireside in the next few weeks to accomplish the following purposes:

1-(Re)introduce the DTG program and place emphasis on it. Discuss how we can and will support efforts done at home on Sunday, but also gently stress the importance of full family participation. Discuss ideas to make the program work and reach its desired outcomes (basically, the purposes of the Aaronic Priesthood)

2-Discuss Scouts and summer camp. Let families know of any responsibilities they will have (both preparation and financial obligations)

3-Discuss our plans for weekly activities and help parents understand the best ways we can communicate information to both them and their sons (email, text, etc.)

I think we can contain this meeting and accomplish our objectives in an hour or less.

Thoughts?

Any days that will NOT work for this?

Also, could this even be a third hour combined activity for the YM and their parents or is this best in a fireside format? I am averse to having any more meetings than are absolutely necessary, but defer to your counsel and recommendation.

Thanks!

Young Men update (1-20-14)

–Next Wednesday (Jan. 22) will be Scouts once again.
We will meet at the church at 7:00 for opening exercises. Gary and Bryce will lead activities; I know Gary is planning on doing firebuilding activities at his house with the younger young men. We will plan on getting a calendar for the next quarter finalized in the next two weeks and sent out to everyone; it may change a little, but should not alter much.

–Ward Basketball

We have been invited to invite our youth to play on a squad fielded by misc. youth combined from the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 8th wards.

The next game is Jan. 25--Noon game at stake center.

–Sunday preparations (reminder)
As we have now switched to a 9:00 start time, we need to help prepare the sacrament and set up chairs for some classes.

We would ask that the Teachers report to the sacrament preparation station (by the bishop's office) at 8:40. We'd ask the deacons report to the primary room to help set up chairs at that same time.

Scout Dates at-a-glance:

Klondike 2014: February 21-22, 2014 at the Heber Valley Camp: Gary will provide more information. We do need to know who will be attending, so please reply to me and Gary Nebeker <gnjdesign@gmail.com> to let us know if your son plans to attend. Thanks!

YM calendar, lesson schedule, and roster

Hi everyone!

Just a quick note that I have created a Google doc spreadsheet for the 2014 calendar, rosters, and lesson schedules. It is located here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApyoROAFuQ8MdDB1bVVLbnpWV1RheDhPc3NkS0ZTeFE&usp=sharing

It is a work in progress and will be a living document. As secretary, Cameron will be the main owner and will update it weekly as needed. All information should funnel through him.

It was the consensus that the majority of the YM leaders would use this over the official lds.org site. I will probably try to populate both however.

Please note that we decided activities would be as follows:

1st Wed--Combined YM/YW (when assigned to YM, will be delegated to a quorum)
2nd Wed--Scouts
3rd Wed--Scouts
4th Wed--Combined YM (will be delegated to a quorum)
5th Wed--TBD

Note that some stake activities will pre-empt our ward activities (like Jan. 29, Back to School Bash in August, a fireside in the fall, etc.). When that occurs, we will not change our cadence but will move to the next week and the planned activity.

Thanks!

Young Men update (Jan 9, 2014)

Hi everyone!

We had a great planning session last night. We went over some activities that we would do as a combined YM/YW for 2014. The youth gave great ideas and then voted on their favorite options.

Just a few items to make you aware of:

1–Sunday preparations
As we have now switched to a 9:00 start time, we need to help prepare the sacrament and set up some chairs.

We would ask that the Teachers report to the sacrament preparation station (by the bishop's office) at 8:40. We'd ask the deacons report to the primary room to help set up chairs at that same time.

We understand that is sometimes difficult, but we appreciate you helping your young men fulfill their priesthood responsibilities and serve others in these ways.

2–The 2014 youth theme is "Come Unto Christ."

The youth of the stake have been asked to memorize THE LIVING CHRIST.

It is located here:

The youth were also given a paper copy last Sunday.

This would be a great FHE activity to learn it as a family.

3–Next Wednesday (Jan. 15) will be Scouts. Gary and Bryce will lead activities.

4–Ward Basketball
The youth are busy, and as such we could not get enough to commit to games to form a team for the 5th ward.

We have been invited to invite our youth to play on a squad fielded by misc. youth combined from the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 8th wards.

The schedule is attached for those who would like to participate (last night a few youth showed interest in wanting to participate this Sat.).

At this point in time, we will not have a coach or adult supervision from our ward as we do not have specific team coming from our ward.

Young Men update (1-7-14)

We had a great time at Youth Conference last weekend (a couple of pictures are attached)! Thanks to all the youth and leaders that could attend.

Activities:

Jan. 8:
Planning 2014 activities (refreshments provided; youth should bring a cell phone to virtually vote on activities they enjoy)

Scout Dates at-a-glance:

White Buffalo District 2014 Pow Wow (Jan 18, 25 and Feb. 1): Gary N. and I spoke about this recently. He was unable to secure spots for this pow wow (they were totally full when Gary inquired). We will look for other pow wow opportunities in the council.

Klondike 2014: February 21-22, 2014 at the Heber Valley Camp: Planning to attend; Gary will provide more information in the next 2 weeks.
