Campout details

Hi!

Last night the younger boys discussed the plans for this weekend's campout. Hopefully they shared them with you upon their return.

If not, here they are:

Meet at Gary Nebeker's house at 2:45 for 3:00 departure for East Canyon State Park. Gary and Bishop Anderson will be the adult leaders.

They will be staying in the Big Rock Campground,  Unit #1

Needs:  Fishing License, Crawdad trap we made,  sleeping bag, change of clothes, etc.

Returning Saturday Morning before noon.

Campout details--RESPONSE REQUESTED

Hi everyone!

Just a few quick items to follow up on to ensure everyone is in the know.

1-GARY--
Can you REPLY ALL with details about this weekend's campout (leaders who will be attending, boys that you anticipate attending, where you are going, place and time you are meeting and when you plan to return, etc.)? I can send out an email to all parent later today if you can get this to us asap. Also, we'll need to ensure we have proper forms, etc. filled out for the boys if travel is a concern (below is the one for the Church):

2-BRYCE and MATT--
Next Wednesday is the parent/youth meeting for all Scouts attending the summer camp in July.

Can you both be ready to discuss dates and details of the camp (what the troop/ward is paying for and what is expected of each young man)?

Also, we should make sure we have proper documents in to the stake and BSA as needed. I am not sure if a plan was requested this year, but let's make sure we follow protocol and get all approvals needed.

Last three items:
1--I received a call from Tonia Lee about Caden attending both campouts. He has a strong desire to do so, and I am aware of some concerns that exist (and rightfully so based on previous experiences and campouts I have been on with Caden). I would hope that we can be as inclusive as possible within reason. Safety is always a huge factor. I defer to your collective judgment as to what is best, and IMHO the Bishop and the leaders going on the campouts should have in final call.

2--Please remember to keep Braden Aguirre in your thoughts and prayers. I did call him personally to invite him to pie night last evening, and he declined due to a migraine. I'd love to have the teacher's quorum presidency reach out there and try to do what they can to show genuine interest in him. Not sure what is best at this point, but with continued reflection and some inspiration, hopefully we can make a difference in his life.

3--I believe we are close to finding a replacement for Chad in the YM Presidency. As soon as that call goes out and that individual is sustained and set apart, I'd love to get back on a regular meeting schedule where we have Key Scouter's Meeting and our YM Pres. meeting. We will all help ease Brother Backus as best we can into KSM; won't take him long at all to see the objective of that meeting and take the bull by the horns and make things happen. He will preside there as the Chartered Organization Representative (see paragraph in RED below for more info.).

Bishopric Counselors: One or both of your counselors will have specific duties regarding Scouting. The ward's chartered organization representative, who generally is one of the counselors in the bishopric (but may be any worthy adult), is selected by you, as the head of the chartered organization, to represent the ward Scout units on the district committee. It is appropriate for both counselors to also be registered as members of your ward Scouting committees; typically the counselor over Young Men is registered with the troop, team, and crew, while the counselor over Primary is registered with the pack and troop. The chartered organization representative often dual registers as a committee member or committee chairman on any or all of the ward committees. Young Men update (6-16-2015)

Hi everyone!

Just a few quick items:

1-This Wednesday we do have a Young Men's activity at 7:00.

Some of our young men are finishing up their Eagle Project following the Emergency Preparedness Fair.

At 7:00, all young men and leaders will help with some final 72-hour kit preparation and delivery.

2-The Emergency Preparedness Fair was last Saturday. Thanks to those who helped set up at noon, and assisted at the event! Everything went smoothly and the turnout was great. Many 5th ward members, stake members, and non-members attended! Thanks to Pat Bell and all the cmte. members (including our young men) for making this a great event!

Thanks everyone!

Young Men update (6-9-2015)

Hi everyone!

Just a few quick items to share with everyone.

1-This Wednesday we do have a Young Men's activity.

Ben, Caden, Jensen, and Joe are finishing up final preparations for their Eagle Project (at the Emergency Preparedness Fair).

At 7:00, all young men and leaders will be calling and/or helping distribute flyers to homes in the ward to continue to build awareness of the event.

Please make sure you are there--these young men could really use your help (and one day will be willing to reciprocate for the younger Scouts).

2-The Emergency Preparedness Fair is THIS SATURDAY at 3:00 in the area of the bowery. We have been asked to help set up at noon. Please come over and help set up for a bit, and then return at 3:00.

Thanks everyone!

Young Men update (6-2-2015)

Hi everyone!

Just a few quick items to share with everyone.

1-This Wednesday we do have a Young Men's activity.

Ben, Caden, Jensen, and Joe should be at the church at 6:30 for an Emergency Preparedness meeting with the full committee. As we are less than 2 weeks away, we need a full report on where you are and how things are progressing.

At 7:00, all young men and leaders will help distribute flyers to homes in the ward to continue to build awareness of the event.

2-Thanks to everyone who was involved in Stake youth Conference last Saturday! What a fun event! We appreciate all the youth and leaders who helped make the event successful!

3-Congratulations to the new Bishopric! We are excited to work closely with you!

4-Just a reminder that this Sunday is Fast Sunday. With the changes in the ward, let's plan to have the Deacons and Teachers help with routes right after Church; the Priests will have home-bound.

Thanks everyone!
