Young Men update (April 27, 2014)
Hi everyone!
Thanks for a great fundraiser last evening! The YW and YM did an excellent job (and the ward leaders and members were pretty darn good as well).
Another quick rundown on things (pay particular attention to the things in RED) . . .
–Activities last week/this week
This last week was busy with preparing for the fundraiser and holding the activity on Saturday.
We will CANCEL this Wed. night's activity and give YM, parents, and leaders a much needed break. Note we do have the Scout Court of Honor next Sunday (see below), so the respite will be short.
UPCOMING BSA ACTIVITIES:
Campouts will be held on the 2nd weekend of every month for 2014.
If we have at least 2 boys, we will move forward with the campout. We will not hold the campout that month if 2 boys cannot attend.
Dates:
-May 9-10
Courts of Honor dates for 2014
5-4 (Sunday)--This will be held at the Church in the RS, Nursery, or Cultural Hall (depending on Scout leaders' choice).
Summer Camp--please note the deposit fee of $100 due by May 15 (getting very close). Please give this to Gary N., Chad R., or John Dye. If the $100 deposit causes hardship, please contact John Dye. No boy with interest in attending should or will be excluded due to financial issues.

REMINDER: Fundraiser is tomorrow
Hi everyone!
This is just a reminder that we have the carnival fundraiser tomorrow. The youth have been great, and we look forward to a fun event!
Youth have been asked to be at the church at 4:00 to help set up. They are also at the booths during the duration of the carnival, so if they cannot be there early please bring them as soon as you can to eat and help at the booths.
This event helps subsidize the costs for summer camps and some other planned outings, so please make sure they come and participate and invite others to join in the fun as well! A lot of preparation has gone into this event (by the youth and leaders), and we look forward to a great afternoon/evening!
Thanks!

I hope everyone has had a great day with friends and family, and you've spent a few minutes considering all the things we have #BecauseofHim.

Young Men update (April 14, 2014)
Hi everyone!
I hope everyone is enjoying a great week with great weather! We have some great things planned for the young men.
We'd like to welcome CHAD RICHES to the YM organization! Chad (chad@beacon-metals.com) is Hunter's dad, and will be a great asset! We are looking forward to having him join us and help us take Scouting to new heights with Gary N., Matt L., and the young men.
Also, congratulations to JOE POPE who was ordained a Priest yesterday. Joe is a great young man and we look forward to having him undertake new and additional responsibilities in the Aaronic Priesthood!
We'll have two new Priests joining him in May--looking forward to it!
–Activities last week/this week
The Scouts started their SWIMMING merit badge and will continue those activities this week. Matt L. said he would reach out to all parents with additional information on what is need for Wed. evening.
The older young men collected donations for our fundraiser (to be held on 4-26) last Wed., and we will be combined with the YW this week preparing booths and doing things to prepare for our annual fundraiser.

Please remind your sons to bring their DTG booklets every Sunday.

Some upcoming items
Hi gents!
Hey, just a few things:
1-An Asst. Scoutmaster has been called. Steve is working on the paperwork end of things, and we officially should wait 2 weeks to pass the background check timeframe before we call him over the pulpit. Know that this is imminent, however.
As soon as he is called, we should meet again and discuss how he can assist in the program. I do not anticipate Cam's or Don's responsibilities as outlined a week ago Sunday will change much. I do, however, anticipate this person can help Gary create the weekly programs/activities which will help boys the boys progress toward Eagle.
2-Gary or Matt, please send parents details on the upcoming campout. That is coming up soon. Dates, where to meet, what to wear, any food needed, etc. The sooner they know the better. I know we told the youth on Sunday, but if we communicate directly with the parents we can ensure the message gets where it needs to be.
3-The April Court of Honor is approaching quickly as well.
Note it is on a Wed. night. I approached Easton about making this his Eagle COH, and he preferred to not be officially recognized. He said his uniform no longer fits, and since he is a bit older I think he prefers to not be recognized in a COH setting. Just my opinion, but that is the way I read it. As such, let's not pressure him.
Bryce, Don had a great idea. Can you get with the young men close to Eagle and tell them we'd like them to share with the audience their plans for their Eagle project? That will give them a deadline to think of what they want to do and help them commit and hopefully take next steps.
Sound ok?
4-We need a troop flag.
Steve and Gary, can you two work on this one?
5-Scouting budget
Steve was going to talk to bishop on this, and if green lit, I was going to work with Gary to create one (inside the YM budget). Steve, have your heard anything?
Thanks all!
