Preparation for Trek

This email message confirms your group Riverton 5th Ward YW or YMYW reservation request for our presentation Preparation for Pioneer Trek on Wednesday, April5, 2017 at 7:15:00 PM. Because we sometimes combine groups in order for more groups to visit at a given time, we will start promptly at 7:15:00 PM. It is imperative that youth leaders sit among their youth during the presentation to insure reverence. This better invites the Spirit to be there. If a young man or woman becomes disruptive a leader will need to escort him/her out of the room.
Following a short presentation in the Zion Room C, your group is invited to come to the main library area where they may use the computers and be assisted by our staff members, as needed. Your appointment is from 7:15 pm until 8:45 pm.
We would like each individual in the group to come into the library and use the computers to search for an ancestor or a member of a handcart company. To use www.FamilySearch.org, they will need their LDS Account User Name and Password. To research an individual to find source documentation they will need to bring as much information as possible for an individual. The individual's full name, including maiden name is required. Have each bring additional information on their ancestors; such as birth, marriage, and death dates and places and the full names of parents, grandparents, etc. as well. The more information they have, the easier it will be to find what they are looking for. A completed pedigree is an excellent resource for them to use. If they want to find information about a pioneer, we can help them find names or they can bring a name they are interested in with them.
The popular Fan Chart, showing 9 generations of ancestors can also be created as a helpful tool in visualizing your family history status. An 11" x 17" color print of the fan chart costs $0.60 (Black &White is $0.10) at our library. They will need their LDS Account User Name and Password.
Copies of any documents found during their visit can be printed at the library for a nominal charge of $0.05 per page for an 8.5" x 11" black and white print. Print cards can be purchased for $2.00 or $5.00 and additional amounts can be added at any time for any amount. Please note we do not accept credit/debit cards. We cannot make change for bills over $20 dollars.
Things for you to do before your scheduled visit to Riverton FamilySearch Library:
- Please reply to this message so we know you received it and the information on your visit is correct.
- For those individuals who have an LDS account, please have them log into https://ldsaccount.lds.org or other church account sites to make sure it is working.
- For those who don't have a current LDS account have each register for one. They can do this by going to https://ldsaccount.lds.org and clicking on the Register for an LDS account button on the right side of the screen and entering the necessary information. This includes their church membership number and birth date. Their membership number is on their temple recommend or can be provided by their ward clerk.
- Make sure everyone brings with them their LDS account user name and password.
- Before coming to the library, make sure that their account is operational and that for children younger than 13, their parents must have previously authorized their accounts.
- Extend an invitation to your ward Family History Consultants to attend with and assist you.
