Young Men's update (2-3-16)

Hi everyone! Happy February!

Many of the young men attended the PROVO CITY CENTER TEMPLE open house last Wednesday (as an fyi, you can now go whenever you want--without tickets. This update was just announced this, so make sure you see it before they dedicate it!). We had a great time--thanks to those who attended! The Spirit we felt and the beauty of that edifice impacted us all, and reminded us how thankful we should be for the many temples surrounding us in this area.

This Wednesday (tonight), we will be finishing up the CITIZENSHIP IN THE NATION merit badge (Bishop Anderson will be leading the instruction). Please make sure all young men bring their merit badge handouts/packets.

Wednesday night activities will be following this outline for 2016:

1st Wednesday: Scouts

Brett Holman (Scoutmaster) and Matt Lingwall (Varsity Coach) will be in charge of these activities (getting leaders, creating activities, etc.)

2nd Wednesday: Scouts

Brett Holman (Scoutmaster) and Matt Lingwall (Varsity Coach) will be in charge of these activities (getting leaders, creating activities, etc.)

3rd Wednesday: Combined YW/YM 

The YW and YM Presidencies will take turns being in charge of joint activities selected earlier this year by the youth

4th Wednesday: Combined YM 

The Aaronic Priesthood Quorum Presidencies will take turns being in charge of combined quorum activities 

5th Wednesday (when applicable): TBD

Caden's Eagle:

I was alerted that Caden Thomas' Eagle papers are through the BSA Council and Steve Backus will be contacted to set up an Eagle Board of Review! Yes! Congrats Caden! That should be happening in the near future. The goal line to achieving your Eagle is ever closer!

Scout Summer Camp:

The tentative dates for this event are July 13-16. The leaders plan to go into the Uintas. More details from Bishop Anderson and Scout leaders in the few weeks. We will plan to hold a meeting where all involved and concerned parties can be provided more information.

Court of Honor:

The tentative date is March 13 (Sunday). This will be determined, in part, by how quickly we can convene Caden's Eagle Board of Review.

Hi everyone!

We had a great annual planning session with the young women last Wednesday! A big thanks to all the youth and leaders that put in much thought about what we will do the remainder of the year.

THIS WEDNESDAY, the young men will be heading down to the PROVO CITY CENTER TEMPLE open house. We will meet at the Church at 5:30 p.m. leave. We have to be there for a 6:30 reservation. Please have the young men dress in Sunday best. 

We do need to get a permission slip for each young man attending.

Young Men's update (1-18-16)

Hi everyone!

We had a great Youth Conference last weekend! A big thanks to all the youth and leaders that put in much time and effort to make this a smashing success!

THIS WEDNESDAY, we will be planning the full year of combined activities with the Young Women. We will meet at the Church at 6:00 p.m. to plan, then we will watch the Face-to-Face with Elder Rasband at 7:00 (https://www.lds.org/youth/activities/face-to-face-events/rasband-oscarson-owen?lang=eng). This broadcast should last about one hour, so we should conclude around 8:00 p.m.

Young Men's update (1-7-16)

Hi everyone!

We had a great night last evening as we kicked off our Youth Conference with a RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS activity. Ask your son about it. I think it went over very well!

Youth Conference is this Friday!

Meet at the church at 4:00 p.m. sharp! We handed out a packing list last evening with what is required. Each young man should have one. If they do not (or were not there), please let me know asap.

We will return on Sat. around 4:00 p.m. (hopefully a bit earlier).

Young Men's update (12-21-15)

Hi everyone!

We had a great night last Wednesday wrapping Sub-for-Santa! Some of the youth helped participate delivering the gifts as well. Thank you for your generosity and donations (and thanks to the youth for helping purchase and wrap the gifts)!

There will be NO Wed. activity for the young men this week or next week.

Also, Youth Conference will be held on January 8-9 (Friday/Sat.). See the rough schedule at the link below (we will be adding additional minor details in the next 10 days).

Young Men's update (12-12-15)

Hi everyone!

We had a great night last Wednesday doing Sub-for-Santa shopping! This Wed. we plan to wrap for Sub-for-Santa. Currently, we plan to meet at the church at 7:00 p.m.

Also, Youth Conference will be held on January 8-9 (Friday/Sat.).

The agenda is being finalized. More details will follow.

There is a planning meeting for the full YM Presidency and the Quorum Presidencies at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in a room by the bishop's office. Please meet there to discuss activities and events for the conference.

Young Men update (12-1-2015)

Hi everyone! 

Happy first day of December!

This Wednesday, we plan to meet at the stake center at 6:00 p.m. to have Bishop Trent Anderson teach the boys that are still working on their Citizenship in the Nation merit badge (many of the Teachers and younger still need this badge--if in doubt, please ask your son) and then having our annual YM Christmas Party at Godfather's Pizza!

Please plan to meet at the stake center (RS room) at 6:00 p.m. if you are working on your merit badge. Meet at 6:45 if you are not. We will leave at 7:00 sharp for Godfather's.

Please expect everyone to be home between 8:30-9:00.

2016 Youth Conference is planned for January 8-9.

We know not everyone can make it (sorry, we tried to accommodate as many as we could, but there will always be conflicts unfortunately). A few months back I sent out a survey in one of my emails, and between the respondents for me and the YW, these were the best dates for the majority of people.
